Painting Competition of Lithuanian Art Week: International Painting Competition

Dates: International Painting Competition will be held: from 26 January to 1 February 2010 in Vilnius.

Registration deadline:


1) INTERNAL (personally visit the Lithuanian Republic) – 14 January, 2010
2) INTERNAL (without visiting of the Lithuanian Republic) – 20 January, 2010
3) IN ABSENTIA – 22 January, 2010

All works declared on competition (correspondence and internal) take places in showrooms and exhibition works.

There are two ways to participate for the competition – online (in absentia) and in person (internal way).

Participation in absentia: Author or impresario should send copies or photos of art works by email: info@artweek.lt or post (Calvariy str., 125, Vilnius, The International Center of Culture and Arts, to Lithuanian Art Week)

All artworks will be published in the yearly international issue – official catalog “New Faces in Arts”.

RULES

Categories and Nominations

Category "Classic Arts"

1) landscapes
2) portraits
3) still Lifes
4) genre painting
5) religious paintings and biblical stories
6) animalistic paintings
7) watercolor

The category "Avant-garde and experimental arts"
1) abstraction
2) naive art
3) fantasy
4) experimental art (a mixture of styles and directions)

Technical requirements:

1) There are two ways to participate in contest: in presence or in absentia. The artworks of “in absentia” entrants are printed and enframed by Org. Committee and arranged as joint exposition. The contest rules accept original artworks and copies (for ‘in presence” entrants) and digital photographs in printed form or file (”in absentia”).

2) Technical characteristics for artworks:
а) IN PRESENCE: the canvas size– no more than up to 120 cm. of the maximum side;
b) IN ABSENTIA: file no less than 200 dpi, up to 15 Mb

3) The author (group of co-authors) may present any number of artworks in any nomination choosed, but each artwork (single canvas or diptych/triptych) is estimated as separate object;

4) the layout:
a) all the artworks must be labeled (label of 7x3 cm. size, right lower corner). Label must contain: a) full
author/group of co-authors name; b) city c) title; d) nomination; e) creation technique; f) size; g) year of creation.
b) “in presence” entrants: each artwork must be furnished with tabs/hooks (to hang on vertical panel) or some
support to avoid the object fall.
c) “in absentia” entrants: the artworks might be presented to Org. Committee as JPEG/TIFF format files no less
than 200 dpi, up to 15 Mb.

Materials which are necessary for the participation:

1.
The questionnaire of the participant;
2.
Labels (for each competitive work);
3.
Photo of the author and the facsimile of competitive works (not less than 200 dpi, no more than 15 Mb);
4.
Copy of payment of an entrance fee (go to devision "Participation Fee").

The important additions:
For EU citizens a visa to Lithuania does not need.
